Some of These Might Feel a Little Too Familiar.
You overthink conversations long after they've ended.
You apologize even when you've done nothing wrong.
You feel guilty resting because there's always something else you should be doing.
You take care of everyone else but struggle to ask for help.
You avoid things you desperately want because you're afraid of failing.
You keep your guard up, even around people you love.
You push yourself until you're exhausted, then criticize yourself for not doing enough.
Anxiety. Perfectionism. People-pleasing. Avoidance. Hyper-independence. Burnout.
What if some of these patterns aren't character flaws?
What if they were ways you learned to protect yourself?
You can begin understanding why you do what you do. And how to Recognize, Reframe, Rewire™ so you can show up how you want to differently.
Meet the Creator
Created by a Survivor. For Survivors.
Hi, I'm Lien Nguyen.
My family immigrated from Vietnam when I was six months old. I spent much of my life working hard, accomplishing things, and still feeling like I was never doing enough.
Then life fell apart.
I lost my career after 17 years. I poured my savings into a business that was thriving until COVID forced it to close. My marriage was falling apart. And in the middle of that chaos, I witnessed a shooting that triggered memories of childhood sexual abuse I hadn't even known I'd experienced.
I was 40 years old when I realized I was a survivor.
For decades, I'd been carrying pain I couldn't explain.
I fell into one of the darkest depressions of my life. So I got help.
I started with talk therapy. But even after years of therapy, I still felt like a hot mess express. Something wasn't clicking.
Then came the books, the research, the trauma experts, and a retreat for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
Learning how trauma affects the brain and body gave me something I'd been searching for my entire life.
Understanding.
For the first time, I could see why I thought, felt, and reacted the way I did. I wasn't some defective human being. So much of what I'd spent years criticizing myself for had roots in what I'd survived.
And at that retreat, I noticed something else.
I was the only person of color in the room.
I thought about all the people in our communities who were struggling without understanding why. People raised to keep their heads down, work hard, take care of everyone else, and never talk about what happened behind closed doors.
People like me.
That's why I created There's Nothing Wrong With You. Only What Happened to You.
I brought together the trauma science, research, and real-life lessons that helped me understand myself into the course I wish I'd had when I was struggling.
I'm not a therapist. I'm a survivor who continues to learn, grow, and figure this shit out, just like everyone else.
I don't have all the answers. But I know what it feels like to finally understand yourself after spending years wondering what's wrong with you.
You deserve that understanding, too.
